The FCI
Collaboratorium
Create. Collaborate. Communicate.
The Faith-Consistent Investing Collaboratorium is a collaboration space for organisations working to achieve systemic change within the faith-based investing ecosystem. The aim is to grow the movement of faith-consistent investing (FCI) and to support the development of a vibrant, robust FCI movement by sharing learning, tools and resources.
About the FCI Collaboratorium
The FCI Collaboratorium is a space for collaboration for organisations supporting faith groups to mobilise their investment capital to tackle social and environmental challenges. The collaboration was seeded by the Dutch philanthropic organisation Porticus in 2019. We welcome new organisations to our community of practice.

This is a live space with active projects... so we'll be updating it with new learnings and experiences as our various initiatives progress.

What's in a name?
Collaboration... the action of working with someone to produce something

Collaboratory... a 'centre without walls, in which the nation's researchers can perform their research without regard to physical location, interacting with colleagues...' (William Wulf, 1989)

Collaboratorium... a word that combines the English word 'collaboration' and the Danish word for laboratory, 'laboratorium'. A place and an environment where we foster collaboration, build trust, develop learning, share experiences, explore new ideas and experiment... all with the shared purpose of growing faith-consistent investing – for the benefit of people and planet.
What is FCI?
Faith-consistent investing (FCI) is an approach to investing that is aligned to faith values.
Faith-consistent investing (FCI) – also known as faith-based investing or faith-aligned investing – is a type of values-based investing that is rooted in religious beliefs, values and principles.
Faith-based investors seek to make returns on their investments, just like any other investor. But they also want to ensure that their investments align with their faith's beliefs and values.
For many, the first step is to avoid stocks they consider to be immoral, which for many faiths includes investments in the arms trade, tobacco, alcohol or pornography (negative screening).
However, increasingly, faith-based investors are moving beyond negative screening to positive investing strategies that often focus on ethical, environmental or socially responsible investments.
