Who is involved?

Partner organisations

This initiative involves eight partner organisations that have been part of Porticus's Faith-based Investing Programme. Each organisation plays a different but complementary role in the ecosystem of support for faith asset owners and managers. Find out more about their particular focus of work below.

Why work with faiths?

Faith institutions are significant asset owners – from land and buildings to investments and influence. Iyad Abumoghli, Director of the United Nations Environment Programme's Faith for Earth Initiative, describes them as 'the third largest economic power on Earth'.

Faith groups are also values-driven organisations. Every faith groups has values and teachings that underpin what they believe and what they do. They should be a natural fit for ethical, faith-based and impact investing that aligns with environmental, social and governance (ESG) or socially responsible investing.

This project sets out to support the growing movement of faith-consistent investing by addressing obstacles and challenges faced by religious organisations seeking to invest in line with their values for the benefit of people and planet.

'[Faiths] are the third largest economic power on earth.  They own trillions of dollars in investment'
– Iyad Abumoghli
