Francesco Collaborative / Catholic Impact Investing Collaborative: Through education, formation, and capital strategy, we partner with faith-based investors to reimagine an investment practice anchored in Catholic Social Teaching.
What we do
Inspired by the Economy of Francesco movement launched by Pope Francis in 2019, the Francesco Collaborative emerged from a series of gatherings convened by Felipe Witchger and Elizabeth Garlow at the intersection of finance, spirituality, and Catholic Social Teaching. In the spring of 2021, a group of US-based Catholic asset stewards came together to wrestle with an important question: What would bold action in impact investing look like if we use Catholic Social Teaching as our starting point? We explore this question through:

WORKSHOPS AND FORMATION: Our flagship program, the Livable Future Investing workshop, gathers asset stewards and faith-based actors from around the world to pray, write, reflect, and collaborate to discern our “most important work.” We’ve since accompanied 150+ workshop alumni on their journey to become protagonists of transformation.

IMMERSIONS AND ENCOUNTERS: We facilitate opportunities for asset stewards to see and experience the beauty of the solidarity economy and initiate relationships with the vital leaders of regenerative business ecosystems.

CAPITAL STRATEGY: We accompany organizations as they work to take up new courses of action related to faith-first investing – whether it’s revising an investment policy statement, finding a new investment advisor, or making a first impact investment.

From Spring 2024, the Francesco Collaborative assumed responsibility for the programming and community building of the Catholic Impact Investing Collaborative (CIIC).

Francesco Collaborative in the FCI Collaboratorium
The need for education and training of faith groups and faith leaders in values-driven investing was one of the three key areas identified by the FCI Collaboratorium.
Designed to advance the education and learning of investors in faith-consistent investing, Francesco Collaborative’s Livable Future Investing Workshop is a virtual, 4-week collaborative workshop that inspires and resources asset stewards to become protagonists of transformation, particularly by integrating their faith and values with the finances of their institution.
Our next Livable Future Investing Workshop will be held October 19th - November 19th, 2024.
