The Faith Impact Project arose from the work of the FIIND Impact Foundation beginning in 2020. Inspired by a study on faith-based investments in 2019 by the Global Impact Investing Platform, and supported by Porticus's Faith-Based Investing programme, the Foundation explored five of the world’s major religions in consultation with leading faith-based organisations (FBOs) to identify the overarching values of Buddhism, Catholicism, Islam, Judaism and Protestantism.
The Project explored identified several values/teachings that were found to be particularly relevant both to the modern subject of social/environmental sustainability and to impact investing for faith-based organisations (FBOs).
Based on these findings, and building on previous works such as 'An Interfaith Shared Values Framework on Ethical Finance', the Project arrived at five overarching themes that are shared among them:
Stewardship
Justice
Solidarity and compassion
Balance
Peace
The Faith Impact Project also aligned these values with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), targets and indicators, as well as identifying exclusions, to facilitate the alignment of faith-based investments to their faith values by both FBOs and their fiduciary intermediaries.
Looking back to our foundations
The results of this work were published in the summer of 2021 on a dedicated platform to ensure maximum reach and visibility.
While the FCI Collaboratorium usually focuses on new initiatives, collaborations and impact, it is also useful to look back to earlier work such as this, which forms the foundation on which many present and future achievements can be built.
The Faith Impact Project is hosted on its own dedicated website. Click the button below for more.
