Throughout the 2024 proxy season, ICCR members engaged in dialogues with companies to press for changes in policies and practices to mitigate harmful environmental and social impacts.

In 2024, there were nearly 400 shareholder proposals that were filed on a range of issues addressing climate change, worker rights and human rights, corporate governance, health equity, and supply chain issues. The outcome was 84 withdrawal agreements and some exciting new proposals, which ICCR has shared in their report Catalyzing Corporate Change 2024 which is available to download from their website.

Once a proposal is filed, the company will often contact the proponents to negotiate a withdrawal to avoid a vote at the AGM. In 2024, 84 (or 21%) of proposals were withdrawn for agreement. (At the time of publication, negotiations were still ongoing for others.) Proposals referencing racial justice (16) and climate change (16) were the most frequently withdrawn for agreement, with human/worker rights close behind at 15 resolutions.
